Summoned and Unwanted

Chapter 216

Iris slowly squinted her eyes open. The first thing her purple eyes laid upon was Vincent welcoming her with a smile and a focused gaze as if he was looking at her yet not at the same time.

Vincent was in the process of using Inspection to confirm the success.

[Seed Rebirth description.]

[All living beings turn back to dust, and all plants turn back to seed. With a caring touch on anything grown from the earth, the guide of life shall offer rebirth back to a seed.]

[Seeds can’t be reborn, and no matter how many seeds there are in one fruit, only one rebirth will occur.]

[Anything grown from the earth can’t be rotten nor missing over ninety percent value. The guide of life can’t offer rebirth if the conditions are lacking.]

[The guide of life will coat the reborn seed with mana, causing the seed to become a Magic Seed Variant.]

Iris became nervous watching Vincent staring at her so passionately. She blushed and covered her face out of embarrassment immediately.

Vincent removed the status window and saw Iris acting shy.

Vincent started to question if it was still the same brave gray goblin who stood up to a grizzly bear. Iris was even acting differently than in the Soul Domain Bridge.

“My. Progeny! God. Has. Saved. You!” The goblin elder said in a muffled voice, and tears sliding from his cheeks.

The goblin elder didn’t believe Vincent could not only save his daughter but also appear more lively. Her skin looked smooth and clean as if her body was recently born. A complete body rebirth.

“C-can I go do-down?” Iris stuttered nervously. Not only was it her first time being held by someone, but it had to be Vincent, the man who started to make her heart flutter, a condition she couldn’t understand.

Vincent smirked when he remembered how shy and embarrassed Ester was. Vincent wanted to tease her, but he decided to lower her down on her feet.

“Father, I am back.” Iris hugged her father and then continued, “I am sorry for worrying you. Please don’t die. I will leave with Vincent so that no humans come after me to hunt our tribe.”

“Progeny... You. Talk. Human. Good. Now!” The goblin elder became surprised.

Iris’s human language was worse than her father’s, yet now, Iris can talk fluently as if she could for years. Iris liked to talk to plants rather than goblins or learn the human language.

Goblins are taught by the goblin elders the basics of the human language and help them understand what humans say to discover their intentions, unlike the few wild and unintelligent goblin tribes remaining in the Southern Continent.

The Book Of Heroes mentioned how the fifth hero helped and taught monsters. Vincent could now see the system Kazumi created when she was alive at first hand.

On the other hand, Kazumi felt proud of how intelligent her past self was to develop a plan lasting for more than a century.

Similar to Iris’s father, all the goblins never thought a dying goblin would suddenly hover in the air, glow like a torch, and then appear healthy and better than before. The cautious goblins looked at Vincent with a mysterious emotion burning in their eyes.

“Gobu... New. Life!”

“Human. God! Gobi!”

“God. Here! God. Back!”

The goblins suddenly knelt and lowered their heads while adoring Vincent as a god. Only Iris and her father embracing each other tightly didn’t kneel.

[This feels weird, and I detect a dangerous situation at hand.]

-More enemies?-

Vincent turned his head to see if he could see the danger Kazumi mentioned.

[Not an enemy, silly. To be honest, it’s much worse.]

[I was thinking. What if all the goblins want to follow us? We can’t fit them all in Tula’s house. The soldiers stationed at the gates might attack them on sight as well.]

Vincent understood what Kazumi was implying. Taking care of above forty or fifty goblins was a dangerous idea. However, the second hurdle to remove the first is to persuade the goblins to think otherwise. Vincent can’t take them with him and place a target on his back.

“Iris, why are they calling me a God? If it’s about the mark, then you should have one on your neck too.” Vincent asked. He wanted to understand what the situation was all about. The sudden adoration as if he was actually a god was starting to intimidate him.”

“Goba, goba.” The goblin elder told his daughter while raising the staff with the mark quite similar to one of Vincent’s four hero marks on his body and presented it to his daughter.

Iris received the goblin leader’s staff and presented it to Vincent. “The previous generations taught my father to call humans with a mark similar to the mark on the holy staff as Gods. The Goddess who saved us by providing gifts of knowledge and survival gave us this holy staff as a symbol of leadership. The...”

“Did the Goddess also come from another world? ” Vincent interrupted.

Iris looked at her father and saw him nodding. “My father is saying yes.”

“Hahaha.” Vincent started laughing loudly. “You hear that Kazumi, the goblins still remember you. They are calling you a Goddess. I never would’ve known you were a Goddess if I didn’t meet the goblins.”

[I lost my memories, that’s all, humph!]

The goblins became puzzled by Vincent’s words. They never heard the name Kazumi nor a goddess named Kazumi. Most started to think that Vincent knew another goddess while a few others tilted their head in confusion.

Ester looked at Vincent, and after seeing his smile and hearing a joke, she giggled and said, “Hehe, I think Vincent is teasing Kazumi. It looks like everything is resolved now.”

“Ester, can I go to see my new sister now?” Lupa asked with a pair of curious eyes, begging to hear the word yes.

“Yeah, let’s go and say hi to our cute little sister.” Ester agreed.

Lupa impatiently rushed and lifted Iris from her underarms like a parent lifting their child. “My name is Lupa, new little sister. Where is your mark? I want to see it. Ouch!”

“Don’t scare her.” Ester gently tugged Lupa’s ear. “I’m sorry Iris, Lupa gets excited most of the time. A gentle sisterly touch is sometimes needed.” She said with a smile.

Lupa lowered Iris down and curiously looked at Iris. It was quite easy to guess how much Lupa wanted to see the retainer mark.

Iris looked afraid and loudly gulped. Iris then moved her hair and revealed the retainer mark on the back of her neck.

Lupa curved a grin and poked her tongue, “T~is is mine. T~see”

Ester removed her glove and raised her hand. “Mine is also the same.” She said with a warm smile.

“Iris has Awaked into a Druid Class. Currently, she can turn anything grown from the soil back into a magic seed. For example, even a mushroom can turn into a magical mushroom seed with her powerful ability.” Vincent introduced Iris to Ester and Lupa.

“I think we can grow vegetables in a portable garden now with our new gardener and herbalist Iris, haha.” Vincent cheerfully said.

“Nice to meet you, fourth sister Iris. My name is Ester and... hehe. Because of certain two individuals, we keep a number. I’m your second sister. I can keep anything you grow fresh and cold with my power.” Ester sincerely introduced herself while teasing Lupa and Kazumi.

“I’m number one, best girl Lupa. Like sister Ester said, I can also help you. I can cut very well with my claws, but I like meat more than grass. You can eat what I cut.” Lupa introduced herself in her own unique way.

Iris’s father stared at the three holders of Vincent’s retainer marks and smiled at how happy his daughter looked compared to the previous years.

Iris’s father raised his fist and shouted, “Gou, gobu, gobu!”

“Gobu, gobu!”

“Gobu, gobu!”

No goblin other than Iris’s father saw the three retainer marks because they previously kept a distance.

The goblins remained kneeling as a sign of respect, but after the goblins heard the leader of the tribe say in the goblin tongue, “My progeny is the chosen one!” The sheer amount of excitement caused celebration and adoration.

It was similar to offering a sacrifice to a god and witness the god accepting their offer. The god chose to take a goblin from their tribe out of all the other goblin tribes in hiding. It was like a miracle happening before their eyes to them.

“Iris. What’s happening now?” Vincent asked.

Iris blushed and hid behind Ester. Then she cutely poked her head and said, “Everyone is celebrating our bonding for life. Humans call it marriage. My father announced that God had chosen me to be his wife.”

“I...” *Sigh* “I can only take Iris with me, but humans already know about this place. That’s how I came here.” Vincent made up.

“I ask everyone to leave this place in the next few days. The next humans you meet aren’t going to be like us, and I don’t want to see the tribe suffer. So heed my warning and go south.” Vincent suggested.
